I still chose Revo and 5 minutes later my computer was free of any trace of Apowersoft – a condition I will maintain. This time, having created a restore point before downloading the program (a new habit and one that Mike has advised in an earlier comment) I had a choice. That program was uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller as Windows 10 uninstall is commonly incomplete. I found evidence of a previous attempt in August to do the same thing with the same results. For that reason, and because it is difficult to distinguish a zero from the letter O, at least for me, none of the permutations I entered were considered valid. A 3rd email is then sent asking for entry of the 20 character code provided in readme.
They then respond in a new email with a six digit activation code which must be entered into their email for verification and sent back.
This requires sending Apowersoft an email after entering an email address and creating a password. If you do not have an existing Apowersoft account you must create one before activating the program. The downloaded setup file and readme passed a VirusTotal scan without issue and it installed to the requested drive and folder without a problem.
The download itself was accomplished by simply clicking the “Download Now” button without requiring a Facebook login or second email sending the link. I don’t know how many people will look at this Giveaway this time of night (5 PM US EST) but for those that do, I thought this comment may be of use.
